About Sally.

Executive Producer

Sally J. Warner

The former secretary to the esteemed Dr. Benjamin E. Mays and the Administrator of his estate, Sally J. Warner has had a career and personal journey marked by dedication and filled with many blessings.

Sally’s professional journey began after taking business and administrative courses at Georgia State College. She held a significant tenure at Hughes Spalding Pavilion, where a chance meeting with her future husband, Dr. Clinton Warner, transformed her life. This pivotal moment led to a fulfilling personal and professional life, intertwined with the legacy of Dr. Mays.

“Dr. Mays’ impact on my life spans generations,” Sally states. “He knew Clint from the day he was born on the Morehouse Campus in 1924, where Dr. Mays was teaching. Their connection endured until Clint became a freshman at Morehouse in 1940, coinciding with Dr. Mays’ presidency.”

Reflecting on a significant and endearing moment with Dr. Mays, Sally recalls, “At the ceremony for Dr. Mays’ portrait at the South Carolina State Capitol, Dr. Mays introduced me and then turned to acknowledge my husband. He warmly proclaimed, ‘And this is Dr. Clint Warner… The husband of my secretary…’”. This one moment highlights the unique bond she shared with both her husband and the man for whom she worked.

Professionally, Sally’s achievements extended beyond her secretarial role. In 2023, she was honored with a Gold Telly Award, recognizing her excellence and impact in media. She is also the founder of SJW Investments LLC, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen. In her personal life, Sally humorously awarded herself the “Best Wife Award,” reflecting on her deep love and commitment to her husband.

Her work, though often behind the scenes, has been crucial to the success of those around her. Sally’s personal philosophy is encapsulated in Dr. Mays’ quote: “WHATEVER YOU DO IN LIFE… DO IT SO WELL… THAT NO MAN OR WOMAN DEAD OR YET TO BE BORN… COULD DO IT ANY BETTER!!”

Sally emphasizes, “I always thought I should do whatever I was doing well the first time because if not… Then… When????’. So when I finally met Dr. Mays and heard his quote, I knew our crossing paths was meant to be”.

Sally continues, “I still shake my head in disbelief and amazement that I have been put in this place at this time… celebrating Dr. Mays’ contributions to society!!”

Dr. Mays had a profound effect on Sally’s life and she is committed to ensuring his legacy endures.
